Functional Medicine, rather than targeting individual symptoms, focuses on the optimal functioning of the entire body and its organs. It addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach in partnership with understanding the conditions and history in which the disease manifested. Genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors all have a direct influence of long-term health and chronic health issues.

Results vary per person. Some people feel dramatic improvement within the first month, others may take a bit longer. Our standard programs are for a minimum of 6 months. Remember, your body didn’t fail overnight. Years of stress and illness takes its toll and it takes a proper amount of time to restore. On average it takes one month of repair for each year you’ve suffered from a specific problem.

The Root Cause Resolution Process is a functional medicine lab-based health approach focused on addressing the 3 main body systems: hormones, digestion and detoxification while educating patients on improved lifestyle and dietary habits. Common conditions we work with – weight gain, fatigue, depression/anxiety, hormone and digestive problems, etc. Every patient that is a candidate for our care is recommended a customized program based on their individual needs.

We encourage clients to book their initial appointment 3-4 weeks in advance. Depending on the time of the year, we can usually schedule a new patient or lab results appointment within 1-2 weeks of the requested time.

David Light, D.C. C.F.M.P. does all lab review sessions and will design your protocol during your lab results consultation. The rest of our team helps with follow up, nutritional and lifestyle coaching as well as with disseminating all of our health and wellness educational information.

If patient proceeds with a Functional Medicine program: Each patient will receive access to our Practice Better Software to help support and assist you in your health journey. Also, a Lifestyle Binder (covering: Nutrition, Digestion, Sleep/Rest, Stress, Exercises and Purification) and possibly 1-3 labs recommendations to complete. Recommended labs will be based on a bio-individual basis.

The number of labs recommended will depend on your individual situation including the number of issues you struggle with and the length of time you have been experiencing them, but the range is 1-4 lab tests.

The results of your lab test(s) will be sent to Root Cause Resolution 2 to 4 weeks after mailing your specimens to the lab. After evaluation we will contact you to schedule a follow up appointment to review your results with David Light, D.C. C.F.M.P. and he will recommend a wellness protocol.

Root Cause Resolution does not want to have our patients be stressed or overwhelmed by this process but the number of labs recommended will depend on your individual situation which can range from 1-4 lab tests. If performing multiple tests at one time seems to be an issue, we will do the very best we can to work with the patient.

Our authorized laboratories are only able to sell test kits to licensed practitioners. David Light, D.C. C.F.M.P. uses specific lab tests from small lab companies that exclusively offer functional medicine tests. Larger national labs and local hospital based labs are not helpful for these types of highly specialized tests.

David Light, D.C. C.F.M.P. utilizes numerous testing facilities. Which facility being utilized is dependent on the patient’s needs. Root Cause Resolution has learned over many years that the accuracy of your lab findings and the quality of the professionals performing the lab tests is the key to you uncovering what’s going on. Quality is not equal across all lab companies. Many times, we see “normal” test results from regular lab companies and our lab tests find many “functional” problems. The lab companies used for Root Cause Resolution clients have the highest testing standards and the most consistent lab results year after year. These are not replacements for regular medical tests, these tests are only used to detect “functional” issues rather than medical problems and aren’t meant to diagnose or recommend protocols for diseases. We are attempting to detect problems with the functioning of organ systems prior to the onset of a disease.

Depending on the type of test, the samples required are blood, saliva, urine or stool. Almost all tests are completed by the client through easy test kits that are self-administered in the comfort of your own home. If there is any blood tests requires, dependent on the test, a patient will be sent to an appropriate facility or a travel phlebotomist will be utilized.

David Light, D.C. C.F.M.P. recommends supplements from high quality and reputable manufacturers that can only be purchased with a practitioner’s recommendation. The Wellness plan that David Light, D.C. C.F.M.P. creates has specific dosages based on the exact ingredients in that specific supplement. If you want to do your own research on different supplements, we welcome you to do so but we do not provide any other recommendations nor advise on other specific blends or brands. If you purchase other supplements from other manufacturers, please research carefully. Not all ingredients are equal, and there is not a guaranteed quality when you purchase supplements elsewhere, especially on Amazon.

When you schedule your initial client interview the forms will be provided to you through a patient portal that is established by Root Cause Resolution. Through that portal is where the application is filled out and any additional medical records can be uploaded.

Depending on the lab test, the cost is $200-$750 per lab kit and you can always start a program just by ordering a single test.

The initial client interview is an assessment of your health and recommendations on what tests are required to understand the state of your body systems. The initial client interview fee does not include any follow ups, test kits or supplements. It does include extensive wellness resources including videos, books and handouts.

Methods of payment are: cash, personal check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, google and apple pay.

Please give us 48-hours for any appointment cancellations. At the discretion of the clinic, if the appropriate advance notice is not provided for a cancellation, the full cost of the visit will be charged to the patient or a pre-paid package visit may be forfeited.

Please keep in mind that each time a patient misses an appointment without providing proper notice, another patient is prevented from scheduling at that time. This policy has been implemented due to heavy appointment demand and possible limited availability.

It is your responsibility to keep the scheduled appointment or reschedule.

We do not bill insurance companies because David Light D.C. C.F.M.P. and Root Cause Resolution are not providers for any insurance.

Per your request, Root Cause Resolution will provide a superbill to you that lists CPT and diagnosis codes that you may submit to your insurance company for consultations. Any superbill needed for lab tests can be obtained through the lab companies if applicable.

Root Cause Resolution does not offer family discount; however, for couples we offer 50% off the initial client interview for the spouse. Any further discount is determined by the needs of the spouse regarding testing and programs.

Initial programs range anywhere from 3-6 months depending on the degree of your health condition.

While retesting isn’t required, it is recommended that a client retest at the 6 month mark to measure improvement and adjust protocols if needed. Once a client has achieved their desired health results, we recommend annual testing to ensure your body systems continue functioning at their best.
